I officially became a member of the student activist group Pro-Choice Aggies in January 2014. By May 2014, I had earned the position of Vice President, and the organization became a multi-issue group known as Aggies for Reproductive Justice. In March 2015, I stepped up as President. After consideration, officers decided to finalize the group name as Feminists for Reproductive Equity & Education (simply known as F.R.E.E.). I served as President of F.R.E.E. until January 2017, and F.R.E.E. is now being lead by our former Vice President.

This organization positively changed my life and helped me grow into the activist I am today. As a student leader, I have protested, lobbied, lead consent workshops, and been in charge of meetings & tabling events. My passion for human rights and my work in this group influenced my decision to pursue a career related to Reproductive Justice. I have volunteered as a Victim Advocate for the Sexual Assault Resource Center since July 2015 and recently completed my internship at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. My work, including my March 2016 guest column “We must be unapologetic in demanding safe abortion,” has even been featured in Texas A&M student newspaper The Battalion. I will continue to fight for Reproductive Justice!
